Man Falls For Cash-Growing Scam

Reported Jakarta Post May 12 2008

Oslo

A Vietnamese man in Norway lost around $35,000 after he was led to believe that mixing the cash with a special liquid would double its value.
A 32-year-old Frenchman is to stand trial for cheating a gullible Vietnamese, by telling him to leave a mixture of real cash with blank bills to “marinate” overnight in a “special’ liquid.
But when he got up in the morning, the Vietnamese discovered that all his cash had gone.

“He really believed that this was possible,” said a police officer, “but we are having a hard time understanding how anybody could believe such a tall tale.”

Simple questions (dead easy)
What's the capital of Norway?
What nationality is the police officer?
How much money did the Vietnamese guy expect to make?
Where is Vietnam?
When was this story reported?
How does the policeman feel?
In the report who was born in 1976?
Where did the Vietnamese grow up?
Where is Norway?
How long did the money have to "marinate?
What's a"scam"?
What does "blank" mean?
Where is Vietnam?
What does the phrase "falls for" mean?

Moderate questions:
What does "marinate" mean?
What was the Vietnamese doing in Norway?
What's a"bill"?
What's one word that starts with the letter "d' to describe "a hard time"?
What's a"tall tale"?
Why did the Vietanmese go to Norway?

Tricky questions:
What does "gullible" mean?
Why did the Vietnamese fall so easily for this trick?
What do you imagine the "special liquid " really is?
What sort of man is the Frenchman....a "c-- man"
What is the Bahasa Indonesia for "trial"?
What country once colonized Vietnam?
