GOODBYE AARON & MS. VERA

It's very sad to hear that Ms. Vera is leaving STM also..Gee, why do so many good teachers have to leave this school? I can't believe it.To be honest, the only teacher I see in STM who is full of dedication & always so cheerful in teaching the kids is only Ms. Vera (and Mr. P also of course :)).

So, what will happen next? Will year 5 students also have the blog later on? For sure, I'll miss reading this blog..hiks..hiks..

I put Jason's last picture taken in 4V class with Ms. Vera & his very best friend-Aaron here so they all can remember the memories they had in year 4..

A Vietnamese man in Norway lost around $35,000 after he was led to believe that mixing the cash with a special liquid would double its value.
A 32-year-old Frenchman is to stand trial for cheating a gullible Vietnamese, by telling him to leave a mixture of real cash with blank bills to “marinate” overnight in a “special’ liquid.
But when he got up in the morning, the Vietnamese discovered that all his cash had gone.

“He really believed that this was possible,” said a police officer, “but we are having a hard time understanding how anybody could believe such a tall tale.”

THE GUCCI BOYS

The GUCCI BOYS were in town yesterday, strutting their stuff, a little bit of left hip thrust ,a twirl here, a pirouette there, wearing cool, scarlet, short-sleeved quality cotton hip-length shirts with magnificent dragon motifs front and back and creative Chinese characters on the shirt cuffs.
The GUCCI'S could be around for a couple of days yet, so make sure you set eyes on them girls. These guys are cute, even if they are a little bumble-footed at times.

Year4 I, for you guys it's even easier,because you just wait until tomorrow. (You need a lesson first).

4V, you know what to do, you focused on RED today and you only have to bring something connected to RED tomorrow - an article of clothing, an accessory, anything to help us put together a mock EXPOSE.

This will take a few days to complete, so don't bring anything that you desperately want to wear on Saturday night!

Zheng He

The Ming dynasty was the 3rd Chinese dynasty and the emperors wanted to be successful and knowledgeable, just like the first dynasty 200 years before Christ. They started the Great Wall and they wanted China stronger and better organized.

Zhu Di was the second emperor of the Ming dynasty. He repaired and extended the Great Wall. His father had kicked the Mongols out.

Zhu Di was very ambitious and proud of his heritage and the knowledge of sciences that the Chinese had collected for thousands of years about astronomy, metallurgy, medicine, and many other things, and he was curious to find out about the world and to do business with foreigners.

He spent a lot of money moving the capital city from Nanjing to Beijing, building a bigger army, the Grand Canal for irrigation of the rice fields and building the Great Wall as well as the Forbidden City.

He also built the biggest fleet of ships ever to explore the world and to do business with countries like Indonesia, India, Burma, Arabia and African countries as well.

The business was usually done peacefully and many ambassadors of different countries travelled to China to pay respect to the emperor.

In the end, Zhu Di got old and had spent too much money and after he died, China was closed to foreigners and business with them stopped completely.

All the voyages of Zheng He over more than 20 years were forgotten about because it was thought to be embarrassing, but actually Zheng He and his other admirals had travelled the whole world and discovered America long before Christopher Columbus.

Why Do Fish Have Scales?

THE STINKING PLANT

The Rafflesia Flower is one of the stinkiest plants. It really pongs! (Nicole). It smells like rotten meat (Chelsea).

They smell like that to attract flies (Ricky). They are red (Karina).

They don't move. (Dax) .They catch flies and the flies move from the male to the female parts of the plant (Tirta).

After that, they are free again, but they carry the pollen with them (Ricky).

Tongues For Sniffing Out Food!!

Snakes are really smart! They use their tongues to smell their prey, but they don't hear too good and their eyesight is bad too!

Inside their mouths, they have a special organ to help them smell their prey.

Other reptiles can do this too like the Komodo Dragon that can smell a carcass more than a kilometre away!

Ray: It's far too cold here!

Dolphin: This place is the pits!

Whale: Yeah, this place is horrible!

Dolphin: OK. If we're ok, let's get out of here before we all freeze to death!

Ray: What's that? Oh look! There's a fishing boat. Let's catch up with it and go somewhere else.

Whale : Where are we going anyway?

Ray: Quiet! Listen!....

Fisherman 1: If we want to catch some big tuna, where should we go?

Fisherman 2: Let's go to the Pacific Ocean! The tuna are huge there!

Fisherman 1: Great idea!

Dolphin: Did you hear that! They're off to the Pacific Ocean!

Ray: Where's that?

Dolphin: Why don't we just follow them.

Whale: Don't get too close. They might say tuna now, but whale later!

Ray: That took a while. Is this it, then?

Dolphin: So, do you like it, or not?

Whale: No! It's still far oo cold!

Dolphin: I wish I could help you find a good place. Mmmmm
(thinking). What kind of place are you looking for?

Ray and Whale (together): Somewhere warm. That's for sure!

Dolphin (still thinking): Mmmmm. I know! have you ever heard of the Indian Ocean?

Whale and Ray (together again): No, never. How far away is it?

Dolphin: Not far, really! Follow me.

(After a while)


Ray: it's getting warmer

Ray and Whale (together): I love this place!

Whale: Yes, this is my cup of tea!

Dolphin: So? Do you think you'll stay here?

Whale: This is perfect!

Ray: Thank you Dolphin!

Whale "I propose a toast! Raise your glasses everyone! The best salty water. Cheers! Salut!

Everybody: Yeaaaaah!

Whale: Do you want be our friend?

Dolphin: Why, of course I do!

Whale, Ray and Dolphin: Hooraay!!!!
