ANCIENT JAPAN

Dynasties are old families with a lot of power and they contolled the Japanese peasants and also the military. They were very strict with everybody and they were also the beginning of the Japanese emperors.

A long time ago one of the ancient Chinese emperors asked some people to go and find the secret to everlasting life.! But nobody came back because they were too scared. The Chinese say that is how Japan began.

Japan is in Asia and the Japanese culture is probably more than 3000 years old. The capital city is Tokyo and the people are respected for being very clever. In the beginning, they lived a small villages and after about 600 years they formed kingdoms.

The Samurai came from Osaka and they lived in a temple named Kita-Mido. They ate rice which they learned to grow about 100 years B.C. - before that they were only hunters and gatherers and fishermen.

140 million people speak Japanese and they are hardworkers and proud of their heritage as well as Mt. Fuji
